This 1990 vintage from the Imperial distillery has been matured in American oak barrels, bottled at cask strength and without chill-filtration. Rich on the nose, with aromas of blackcurrant jam, orange marmalade, vanilla fudge, liquorice and walnut. On the palate, flavour notes of juicy redcurrants are intertwined with spicy notes of ginger, caramel, cinnamon and nutmeg. The finish is sweet and gently spiced.

THE IMPERIAL DISTILLERY
In the hamlet of Carrann, amongst lush pine tree forests, stood the Imperial distillery. A grand opening in 1897; with turbulent times ahead. Beset by misfortune, the distillery was opened then closed time and again; finally taking its last breath in 1998. Once closed, thieves smashed its stills and stole the copper. But luckily, a treasure of gilded barrels was left behind. While maturing, the whisky developed a surprising and distinctive character of orchard fruits and honey malt.
