Born in the Mountains of Clay County, Kentucky on Sexton’s Creek in 1943, my Pawpaw Sizemore knows a thing or two about good sippin’ whiskey and how to make it. When he wasn’t making his own whiskey he was buying it, two counties over from my great grandfather, Leonard Neeley. After 50 years of gun fights, bar brawls, and nights in jail (once with a 38 special in his pocket at the McKee Jailhouse, but that’s another story) he finally retired from the illegal side and joined me, his grandson at my now legal distillery. Even at 75 years of age you can find him starting my stills for me every morning at 6am, mixing mash by hand, providing valuable advice, and telling unbelievable stories about the old days in our family’s still house.
